A Medical Clinic is a public health facility that provides Primary Health Care and a good referral system along with the care of outpatients in a community such as the larger hospitals do in big cities, which also treat inpatients. In course of time, some are enriched in infrastructural and manpower and become institutions as large as Hospitals, though their former name Medical Clinic prevails. These are often associated with a hospital or medical school and take the name Community Based Medical College.

Functions:

Functions of Medical Clinics may differ from place to place. Functions may differ due to infrastructure and manpower. Such as; a Medical Clinic having single general practitioner will provide:

  • Primary Health Care
  • Immunization & Vaccination
  • Family Planning
  • Health Education
  • Treatment to minor wound & common house hold accidents, etc.

A Medical clinic consisting of single medical person is a low-profit business for the society but for-profit business by the owner on the other hand a government specialist Medical Clinic which is enriched by infrastructures & manpower is able to provide subsidized specialized health support to an adequate portion of the community or locality.

  • By making no profit on their services.
  • Not taking Money or charge from the patients.
  • By helping a good number of people who are not able to afford the normal costs which they might qualify.
  • Government or non-government organization may patronize Medical Clinics.

Medical Clinic is a significant part of the society which is required to ensure health service to the people of the society. Disease control, increasing the life expectancy rate, decreasing the mortality rate and last of all to ensure the healthful living of each and every person of the society, Medical Clinic is a must.
